Wiley is known for his stylized paintings of young, urban African-American men in poses borrowed from eighteenth- and nineteenth-century European figurative paintings, a practice he started in the early 2000s

I saw one of his paintings at The Brooklyn Museum of Art--crazy. Here sits this black general on top of a horse, with his sceptor surrounded by this 18th-century style setting, in army fatigues and some Timbs. The evolution of art, I love it.
